The purpose of our ministry to children is to point them to Jesus Christ so that they build personal relationships with Him, by grace through faith. We want children to know the love of God in Christ, to understand that they are important to God and have been created for a specific purpose, and to know that Christ overcame the power of sin and death. We want to join parents in teaching these truths (Ps. 78:4,7 or Ps. 145:4).
The children’s ministry, at Shady Grove PCA spans children from birth through fifth grade and includes Sunday School, Children’s Church and periodic Children’s sermons during the Worship Service. We also plan special children’s events such as: Miniature Golf, an annual Hallelujah Party as an outreach event in late October, a Bowling Party, an annual Easter Egg Hunt the Saturday before Easter, an annual Summer Vacation Bible School, and an annual Sports Camp (for ages 8-12). There are a number of other opportunities for the children to be involved within the church community including the children’s program at our Missions Conference and Family Camping Trip.
We are committed to reaching and preparing the next generation. During Sunday school children learn about the Scriptures and experience the love of Christ through their teachers. The lessons are Biblically based and from the reformed tradition. Our curriculum runs in a two year cycle with the Old Testament the focus of the first year and New Testament of the second year. The learning environment is both safe and fun. Each class is taught by two adults who are either church members or regular attender. All volunteers must under go a background check.
Nursery and Toddlers
Nursery: 0 – 12 months Room 3
Toddlers: 12-24 months Room 4
We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment where infants and toddlers are cared for during both Sunday School and Church. Bedding is changed after each use. Toys are cleaned with a germicidal solution after use. Children are signed in and parents fill out a name label for their child. Any special instructions are given at that time. Diaper bags and items inside should be labeled prior to drop off. Children are only released to parents or those designated at drop off by the parents.
Sick Child Policy
So that we can maintain a healthy environment we ask that you keep sick children home to prevent the spread of germs. This includes children that have had a fever within 24 hours of a church event. A child being treated with antibiotics for at least 24 hours is welcome.
